Version 4.7 Released
Tournamatch version 4.7.0 is now available!
This release improves support for block themes, caching plugins, and addresses several minor bugs. We’ve also tested and verified compatibility with the latest WordPress version 6.9.
Block Theme Support Improvements
We’ve introduced a new setting that allows you to toggle block theme headers on or off. On new installations, the default setting is enabled if you are using a block theme, or disabled if you are not using a block theme. When upgrading from a prior version, this setting is off by default. If you have added support for your own navigation on Tournamatch pages, you may consider replacing it with the block theme header when you are ready.
You can find this setting in the WordPress back-end, Tournamatch -> Settings page. It is located on the Other tab.
Caching Plugin Improvements
Tournamatch should now better support caching plugins that cache the final HTML pages displayed to clients. In previous versions of Tournamatch, a necessary security field was written to the local script and would grow stale if using HTML page caching. This field is now dynamically fetched and renewed as necessary. To implement this feature, we refactored how all XMLHttpRequests are initiated. This cleaned up our JavaScript source files and will later allow us to streamline some logging capabilities we have planned.
What’s Next?
In our next feature release, we aim to address a frequent request among site owners: hiding player accounts. It’s a common security recommendation to use a an admin account not titled admin. Since players’ display names are the username by default, registered account usernames (including privileged roles) are revealed on the Players List view.
